The Arusha National Park

The Arusha National Park is a renowned sanctuary situated near the Northern Tanzanian city of Arusha. It encompasses the renowned volcano, Mount Meru situated at a height of 4566 meters.

Even though the park is small in area covering only a tiny region of about 137 sq.km, it houses some diverse, spectacular landscapes in three distinctive locales. It is multifaceted jewel, which you should never miss to admire.

The entry gate leads you to an obscure mundane forest, where you will be welcomed by blue monkeys and the vibrant trogons and turacos. It is the only spot in the whole of the North Africa, where you can easily spot the black and white colobus monkey.

In the middle of the forest you can visualize the magnificent Ngurdoto Crater, with its sharp, rock-strewn cliffs surrounding a swampy ground sprinkled with warthog and buffalo herds .The beautiful Momela lakes add splendor to the serene beauty of the Arusha National Park.

The lakes are adorned with pink tint, with flamingoes flocking the lake in thousands. Some of the other residents you can spot are the water bucks, water fowls, etc. The snow-clad Kilimanjaro peak in the backdrop adds beauty to the scenic settings of the lake.

Some of the other animals you can see are the hyenas, leopards, zebra, giraffes, etc. Only on rare occasions, the African elephants are spotted.
