Uganda Wildlife Education center

The Uganda Wildlife Education center, also called as UWEC is a much sought after tourist destination for visitors coming to Entebbe. It is a beautiful place situated on Lake Victoria’s shores. UWEC is a perfect spot for educational as well as leisure tour. The wildlife centers are spread on an area of 72 hectares. It is home to more then four hundred native animals, 250 species of birds, 500 species of trees and plants.


Most of the animals you find here are freed from poachers, smuggler or the society. The center renders a noble service by educating the school children on the importance of wildlife. It is a common thing to find school kids at the UWEC.


A pleasant sight, you will experience is seeing the friendly rhinos scratching their head on the fence. Some of the animals you will come across are the majestic lions ruling their kingdom, the serial cat ready to jump on you if you dare to sneak into his territory, leopards, and hoof stocks such as the waterbucks, the Kobs, giraffes, the giant forest hog, Eland, the wild buffaloes, Warthog, bushbuck and elephants, etc.


At the UWEC, you will also be welcomed by birds such as the Shoebill, Hammerkorps, pelicans, tiny pretty owls, crested crane, the giant ostrich, the African parrots, etc.

Opening hours

The center is opened on all days from 9.00 am to 6.00pm.
