Somdev all set to clinch a spot in the forthcoming Olympics, to sneak into top 50 rankings.

The forthcoming ATP Aircel Chennai open that is due to commence on Jan 3 is all set to serve as a step stone for Indian Davis cup star, Somdev Devvarman to scale new height in his tennis career. Somdev seeded No.84, is to start his lengthy haul, as he is determined to sneak into the top 50 slot in 2012, .and also to get qualified in the approaching London Olympics.

The Indian tennis star had a good year in 2011, as he reached the final of the Johannesburg open. Somdev recognized that consistency is the trump card to secure a spot in the Olympics.

The ace tennis player said his main focus is on the forthcoming Olympics, and that he will work to his enhance his playing skills. He further added that it would be good making a way into the top 50 rankings.

Somdev on analyzing his performance in the season, said, that a few good matches and favorable results made him rise in the rankings, and due to a shoulder injury, he faced a sudden fall in the rankings.

The Indian Davis cupper began the season seeded at 108, managed to reach his career best at 63, and then dipped to 84. The ace tennis star is confident; he will put up a good show in the coming year.
