Chennai Super Kings beats Delhi Daredevils enters IPL final

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opening batsman Murali Vijay scored a smashing fastest century to boost his team to a striking 222 for 5 against Delhi Daredevils in the IPL final that was held on May25, 2012, Friday at Chennai.


Vijay created the landmark achievement by scoring 113 from just 51 balls. He was run out on the innings’ lastball. He hammered a total of four sixes and 13 fours.


Vijay now holds the unique record of being the first Indian to score two centuries in IPL.


The total score of CSK is also the maximum in this league’s edition.


Earlier the Delhi Daredevils won the toss and chose to field.


CSK started it innings with an exciting start with the Chennai local boy, Murali Vijay discovering the cords with skilled easiness. Michael Hussy gave full support and he scored 20 from 22 balls.


Skipper Dhoni scored a rapid 23 of just 10 balls, while Bravo scored an unbeaten 33 from just 12 balls.


The Delhi Daredevils never appeared like attaining the rigid target and they were all dismissed in the 17th over, with CSK spinners Ashwin and Jakati taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively.


Srilankan batsman Mahela Jayewardene was the top run getter for the Delhi team; he scored an impressive 55runs of 38balls. hitting four boundaries and two sixes.


Delhi scored a mere 136/10 in 16.5 overs to CSK’s mammoth total of 222/5 in 20 overs. CSK won the Qualifier 2 match beating the Delhi daredevils by 86 runs and has cruised into to the IPL final.
