Lulu Hypermarket launches British Food Festival

Lulu Hypermarket, the largest retailer in the region, launched British Food Festival 2012, a celebration of the best of British food on Wednesday, May 9th at the hypermarket's Al-Qurain branch. The week-long festival was inaugurated in the evening by Paul Gaskell, chargé d’affaires at the British Embassy, in front of a large gathering of customers, well-wishers and senior officials of the hypermarket.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the festival, Mr. Gaskell thanked the management of Lulu Hypermarket “for their wonderful initiative in bringing really good, high quality British food to shoppers in Kuwait.” He added, “This is a wonderful year for Britain; this year we are celebrating Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and we also have the Olympics coming up soon. I believe that holding this British Food Festival now is at a very timely initiative on the part of Lulu Hypermarket. I hope as many people as possible get to visit the festival to acquaint themselves with the high-quality and large variety of delectable food products that are on display from all four regions of the United Kingdom. Moreover, it is heartening to hear from the hypermarket's management that the indubitably high-quality of British products is appreciated not just by British expatriates, but by a growing number of Kuwaitis and other expats in the country.”

Elaborating on the products on display at the festival, a source at the hypermarket said, “With fresh dairy and bakery products being brought in by air consignment, frozen goods arriving by sea, and by constantly adding to the range of British grocery products on our shelves, Lulu Hypermarkets, with its 100 current outlets, account for a large chunk of British retail food exports to the region. In the immediate future, we also plan on opening an office in the United Kingdom to directly source quality products and make it available to our customers at the best possible prices. We need to emphasize here that the quality of British products are second to none, for instance, British beef, lamb and chicken products are produced to some of the most stringent health and welfare regulations in the world. And British chicken is considered among the safest chicken meat in Europe as it has been bred to the highest standards along every stage of the food chain, from rearing to processing and delivery.”

To eat heartily, healthily and variedly, visit the British Food Festival at Lulu Hypermarket and explore the delicious and diverse range of British foods on offer. During the week-long festival, customers can expect drastic reduction in prices on many British products. Also, during the event, the Fresh Food Department will be showcasing many regional British food specialties, giving shoppers an opportunity to taste the best of British foods right here in Kuwait.
