The snowy slope of Himachal lures tourists, skiers

Manali, the popular hill station in Himachel Pradesh attracts a number of visitors and skiers. With its snow capped mountains, apple gardens, sliver cascade streams, and chill and breezy windows, the place is offers a real visual treat and an enchanting experience to the tourists.


The director of the state operated Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Mr. Randhir Singh Salhuria said that presently there is a three and half foot snow cover at the Solang valley. Until February, the area will have fresh continuous snow.


Professional as well as amateur skiing course are conducted by the Institute. The course will go on till the whole place is covered completely with snow.


Since the road leading to Manali is again opened to the public, a snow boarders and skiers are thronging Manali in large numbers.


At Salong, a large number of private operators are providing skiing equipments a well as trainers; you can make use of them. Likewise the state tourism department has regulated the price and is keeping a vigil on the fees charged by these private operators.


At present the tourism department has fixed a price range of Rs. 300 to Rs.1000 based on the booking timing and the type of ski kits prefered by the tourists.


The mountaineering institute is organizing fundamental, intermediate as wells as advance courses for beginners at Narkanda, situated at a distance of 65 km from Shimla.


At Narkanda, the HPTDC (Himachel Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation) is providing potential skiers with boots, skis, and sticks.
