The simple beef broth

This is a very simple and easily to prepare beef recipe. It emanates a pleasing aroma and is delicious to consume.


The ingredients required for preparing this recipe

4 pounds of bone-in beef short ribs (some 15 individual ribs)

Approximately three ounces of half a cup of pitted prunes.

3 slightly crushed garlic cloves.

One medium size onion cut into half.

Kosher salt.

Preparation method

In a big and strong pot, blend the small ribs, prunes, onion and garlic, then add if possible spring or filtered water. If you are not able to include all the water at a time, you can add the remaining portion once the broth minimizes. Over a medium heat bring the mixture to a boiling condition; on the surface if you find any foam just skim it.


Then place the lid with somewhat ajar, minimize the heat and gently simmer, at times the surface should be skimmed for a duration of about two and half hours, till the meat gets tender. Then remove the lid, the broth should be simmered till the broth is flavored intensely.


Over another pot, place a well mesh sieve, with cheesecloth layer line it and the broth should be strained. You will get almost 8 cups of broth. Season the broth with salt for taste.


Can be prepared 3 days ahead, cover up and cool it. Before serving, it can be rewarmed.
