New Delhi: US declared that it is very much concerned about the scenario prevailing in the Indian business environment. It said the policies intended to protect the domestic industry will eventually harm them.

Mr. Francisco Sanchez, the US under Secretary for International trade said at a CII event in New Delhi that US encourages India to concentrate on the anxieties, it has regarding its business scenario. He further added that the latest actions seem to slant the playing arena.

Citing an example, the US under Secretary said that the India’s solar operation needs domestic content sourcing. He said many of India’s policies that are intended to protect the domestic industries will only ultimately hurt them in the end.
The undersecretary said that the type of policies in India will only seem to tilt the playing area in India from US business and other overseas firms.

Sanchez, who heads a high-level business delegation from the US, said the recent policy directions and schemes of India will only restrict its market to expand the domestic industrialized capability.

The delegation comprises of Azure Power, A123 Systems, Serious Energy, Picarro Inc, Amonix Inc, and Sopogy Inc.
Sanchez said for instance in clean technology the local content requirement (LCR) openly distinguishes against the imports.

The Undersecretary cautioned that the path India is following may force it to miss modern products. He said he believed that it may end up hindering the growth and end up in missed opportunities.
