UNSW Achievers Honoured at IES

Indian Educational School (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan), Kuwait Kendra honoured their 26 Gold Medalists in the International Assessment for Schools 2010 conducted by the Macmillan Publishers India Limited in collaboration with the University of New South Wales, Australia.  In the cultural evening conducted in their rare honour in the school auditorium on Thursday 26th May, Mr Anis Ahmed , the Director of Kalka Group of Institutions gave away the medals and certificates.  In his key note address, Mr Anis Ahmed admired all the winners of the UNSW Gold Medals admiring them for the perception and perseverance they possessed.  He also wanted all the students to be more introspective about their way of living asking them the questions whether they are the accepted members of their family, respected members of their society, proud citizens of their country and of the world.

The elated gathering was briefed on the Internal Assessment for Schools (IAS) by Mr Suresh, the teacher in charge of the exam for the year 2010-12.  Among the 350 students from the school who took more than 1200 tests last year, around 50 participants scored High Distinction and 26 among them are toppers in different subjects in Kuwait.  The IAS 2010 in which more than 4,20,000 students from countries like India, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Kuwait etc participated became more glorified by the astounding performance of Himag Bhavdip Vaidya of class 9 and David Liang Mohan of class 6 of IES. Himag is the only one student who has been awarded the UNSW gold medal in science out of a total of 11074 tests all over the world. Liang David Mohan became one of the two students who have been given the UNSW gold medals in English all over the world.

The spectators who adorned the function were virtually enthralled by the magnificence and cultural magnitude of the show.  They had a smooth and feathery journey across the multifaceted world of the western as well as classical, the semi classical, the folk and the musical ancestry of Indian performance art. The Chairman Mr Ramachandran Menon, the Vice Chairperson Ms InduBala Kandelwal,  the Principal, Mr T Premkumar and the Vice Principal, Ms Shaila Naik showered all the students who presented the cultural programme with blessings.  In the event organized under the expert supervision of Ms Tessy and Ms Shobitha, Vaishak Menon, the school cultural secretary gave the welcome speech and Ahana Shivaskandan extended the note of gratitude.The Parents of students studying in classes 9 to 12 were invited to attend the show and their presence added further colour to the show.
