The Gateway theatre of shopping, also known as the Gateway is considered as the biggest shopping mall in the country of South Africa. It is also regarded as the largest shopping mall in the southern hemisphere. The shopping mall is situated on the northern part of Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Te construction of shopping mall was initially started in the year 1998 and was completed in eh year 2001.

The shopping mal is spread on a floor area of 1,900,000 sq ft (180,000 m2) and houses more than 350 stores, 70 restaurents. It also has the eighteen movie theatres, six Nouveau Cinemas and an IMAX theatre. An arcade, a wave house and a theme park called the Fantasy Park is also present in the mall.

The Gateway houses Well-known banks like the American Express, First National bank, Master Currency, Travelex, FNB – ATM, etc.

Some of the stores present are cardies, Bargain books, Pen and Art under the Books and stationery categories.

Muisca and Musica megastore are well-known music stores that sell CDs and DVDs.

Some of the Gateway shopping outlets, which sells mobiles and other gadgets, are Cellucity, Cell C, MTN Mobile communications, Chatz Data, etc.

Some of the clothing brands like Polo, Guess kids, Bagozza have opened their shops at the Gateway.

The food buffs can have a good time at the renowned food joints like Hot dog café, just Donuts, Kentucky Fried chicken, Freddo Ice cream, London Pie, etc.

Edgars, Ackermans, Stuttafords, The Hub, Woolworths and Game are some of the departmental stores present in the Shopping Mall.

Be dazzle, Guess accessories aid Silver touch are the leading shopping outlets that sells fashion and accessories.

Some of the stores which sells kids wear items are the Limelight, Brands Unlimited juniors, Looky there, Keedo, etc.
