On a sultry afternoon, an orange bus enters into a slum area in Hyderabad city. It is parked in the midst of tarpaulins and wood bits.

Kids in barefoot comes trooping into the van with their eye gleaming. The van is a mobile school that provides education to these disadvantaged and neglected students each day, stopping for some hours in various parts of the city.

The parents of these slum kids are daily laborers or work as maids or rag pickers. These children are either school dropouts, once enrolled or never go to school. Just like the parents, many children are forced to work to pay off their family over dues.

A non government organization named as clap foundation runs the school on wheels. Its director Mr.T.L.Reddy said these children do not have the facility, or the time to go to the school, unless the school comes to them .He further added, initially, they put up a tent in the slum area to give the fundamental education, then they slowly got evolved into the notion of a school inside a van, in order to attract more children.

The bus concept was implemented three years ago. The van is brightly lit, and its walls decorated with alphabets, and with fruits and animal pictures. The kids are made to sit on the seats inside the bus, and made to write on the slates, by holding on to the laps.

A student by name Devi said the mobile school education is very good. Three years ago she got enrolled in a primary school and got dropped out. Now she attends the school on wheels, in between she assists her father in picking up rags and she said she aspires be a teacher in future.
