Rosemary is a very well-known herb that can be utilized for meat seasoning. In the immediate future, a number of food producers are to make use of the Rosemary oil in response to the consumers’ insistence for the use of natural products.

At present, BHA and BHT are some of the most common preservatives used on food products. But some research reveals that the BHT leads to hyperactivity, and the BHA causes cancer. This makes some of the consumers to avoid food products that contain these additives.

In a study conducted in the year 2006, the necessary oils like Rosemary and sage are found to function proficiently in avoiding oxidative decompose and avoiding polyunsaturated fatty acids loss in meat, when compared to the BHT and BHA combination. This indicates that the rosemary and the sage oil are found to be natural preservers for food. It also protects the consumers from harmful effects.

The investigators are considering on how to put these natural oils into more practical use, as additives for food. One stumbling block on the way is these natural oils has a specific aroma to the meat, which some of the consumer may not be pleased about. However if you find that the slight aroma may not bother you, than that trouble will not be a trouble at all.
