Expo '98 / Parque das Nacoes

The 1998 Lisbon world Exposition (Expo 98) was a formal dedicated world fair conducted in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. “The Oceans, a heritage for the future” was considered as the theme for the Expo, in remembrance to the 500 th anniversary of Portuguese discoveries. Nearly 11 million tourists visited the expo in a span of 132 days, 155 nations and companies participated in the expo.


The Expo 98 was closed on 30th Sept, 1998.After a lapse of one year, it was again reopened on February 1999, under the name Park of the Nations (Parque das Nações in Portuguese). At present the Parque das Nacoes is a park, which can be accessed freely, having an Oceanerium (biggest aquarium of Europe), gardens, Virtual reality pavilion and a practical science museum called the knowledge pavilion.


There is also an indoor arena, bowling alley for the visitor to play and enjoy.

You can enjoy with you r family riding the gondola ride and have a breathtaking view on the river, casino theater, the main concert hall and the restaurants.


Opening hours

On summers, the pack is opened to the public from 10 am to 8pm, and on winter from 10 am to 6pm.
