The Dumat Al-Jandal is another popular tourist spot in Saudi Arabia. The name Dumat Al-Jandal exactly signifies as the “Dumah of the stone”as it is the region of Dummah, one among the 12 sons of Ishmael.


Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque


Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque is a significant feature which you can find at Dumat Al-Jandal.

You will find this mosque located at the main junction of the antique trade route connecting Syria, Mesapotamia & the Arabian Peninsula. It is believed that the mosque is named in honour of the Bani'Amr tribe that settled in the Dumat al-Jandal.

You will find the mosque constructed in a single stone. You can find a courtyard in front of the major prayer hall to the southern direction and an additional room that is utilized for prayer to the northern direction. The prayer hall looks impressive and it is built with 3 lines of stone pillars and it is equivalent to the qibla wall. Wooden lintels are used for constructing the pillars. These pillars support stone layers which are covered by the mud wrapped palm & acacia trunks.

There is a stone staircase which is built alongside qibla wall . you can go to the top and have awesome views of nearby hill forts and the surrounding landscapes.

Marid castle


Qasr Marid is a fortress situated Dumat Al-Jandal. This castle was in charge of the Adumato, an old city. Excavations were conducted at the place and Roman-Nabataean pottery shreds of uniform layer signified the existence of a wealthy society during the Nabataean period.

Al Dar'i Quarter is another noteworthy place to visit. This place is characterized with stone lanes, stone structures with garden & water bodies.
