Don Bosco Ramadan Sports Fest Results

Kuwait 03rd September, In the 9th Edition of the Don Bosco Ramadan Sports Fest 2011, the school arena has witnessed a large number of guest this year as everyone was set for the event this year. The idea behind these events is to create and build a friendly community.


The organizers made a special note of thanks to their sponsors: Wataniya Telecom and co sponsors El Hoss Engg, Avanti Palace Restaurant, Indian Delights Restaurant and Kuwait Educational Center. Moreover, a special thanks for Indian English Academy School (Don Bosco) for their use of their premises.

The Rink Soccer tournament teams were divided into 4 groups of five teams each, each one playing each other in the league format. In addition, the top two teams qualifying for the quarters finals. Teams that has been participating since the introduction of the tournament are Showmen / Urrak – 7 / Feni – 7 & Susegad have seen the game progress over the years with lot of young talent participating in this tournament and making it difficult for the once rink champions.

The organizers Don Bosco Oratory, who hopes to popularize this sport event, Jayan Lewis on of the Oratory member, said “we had a satisfying response but had to limit it to 22 due to the time frame as we had to complete the other 2 events in the time frame provided to us.” He went on further saying Rink played here and other parts of the world are different, as here, safety is our priority and I am sure the players have seen many changes this year.

1st Hatrick – Manual D’souza (Tan 7) / Fair Play team – Gummy Gummy (B) / Tournament Highest Scorer – Conrad Pinto (Susegad) / Best player of the Finals – Valenky Rodrigues (Mumbaikars) / 4th Place – Feni 7 / 3rd Place - Dular Boys

Box Cricket tournament, a sports loved by many and has become very popular here in Kuwait. The organizing committee member Mr. L. Raju had no choice but to permit only 24 teams this year. Mr. Raju said, “We had to permit only the first 24 teams who registered their entries and put a stop. This is a sport loved by many old, young and even women. One day event only for ladies was held with teams playing each other and the top 2 qualifying for the finals”. He went on to say “In the men event this year the organizers have noticed that the sport has been mastered by many and become very competitive and with the working committee of Don Bosco Oratory will have a lot of changes made next year, this will make the game more interesting”
