Culture of Canada

The Canadian culture is historically influenced by inventive, melodic, legendary, social and political fundamentals that are envoys of the Canada and its people.


Family

Like its natives, the Canadian family life is a varied one. Whilst several families comprises of Kids with two parents, there are other kinds of families. Once can form the kind of family which suites the best for him. For instance, the country has more than one million single parent families, mostly headed by women. The already married adults with kids aging marry, thereby creating a lot of step families. The living together (man and woman staying together without marriage) concept is also commonly found in Canada.


The grand children are raised by the grandparents, and the nephews & nieces are raised by their uncles and aunts. Children are also adopted by some parents. Families formed by the same gender, with or without kids. Several couples can also be found without kids. Extended families are also found with parents, kids, aunties, uncles, grandparents, all of them living together below one roof.


Another common feature that can be found in Canada is a two parent family that has both the parents working away from home.


Food

The food in Canada is broadly based on different regions of the country. Joe Clark, the former prime minister of Canada said that Canada is having a cuisine or cuisines, not a stewpot but a smorgasbord.


You can find a variety of food in Canada; a majority of them are identical to the American food like bread, cereals, milk, eggs, cheese, beef, seafood, poultry, fish, pork, and fruits like. Apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, tomatoes, pears, - and vegetables like potatoes, lettuce, carrots, squash, beans, celery, etc. Junk food and fast food are also very famous in Canada with several pizza and burger franchises.

Dress

The Canadians do not have any particular dress code. In the northern area of the nation and in other cold regions, the people wear long underwear called long john, parkas, woolen caps (tuques), ear muffs, scarves, and different jackets creased with leather or down lining. The Canadians also wear ‘lumberjack shirts” or plaid jackets.


Sports

The Canadians play a variety of games like Lacrosse, Ice hockey, basketball, Canadian football, curling, soccer, and baseball, boxing, auto racing, , karate, cycling, kickboxing, golf, horse racing, hiking, ice skating, rodeo, skateboarding , snowboarding, skiing, tennis, swimming, track, triathlon, and field, water sports, etc.
