Indian students shine in Grade 10 CBSE exams

JEDDAH/DAMMAM: Indian students who took this year’s Grade 10 examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have come out with flying colors.
The All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) results were declared on Thursday.
At the International Indian School-Jeddah (IISJ), 831 students appeared for the examination. Of them, 30 girls and 19 boys scored a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 10 full points.
After the introduction of continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system, the Grade 10 examination has become less stressful. Seventy percent of the marks are awarded by way of formative assessments (FAs) and summative assessment (SA-1) by the schools themselves. For the remaining 30 percent, the students have the choice to opt either for school-based evaluation or board-based evaluation.
“All 831 students of our school opted for board-based summative assessment (SA-2),” said IISJ Principal Syed Masood Ahmad.
For Dunes International School in Alkhobar, this was a special year because this was their first Grade 10 batch.
“We are pleased to announce that our first batch of CBSE Grade 10 students has passed with excellent grades,” said Principal Dharminder Manon. “We have secured 100 percent with 4 out of 14 students securing above 9 CGPA.”
Dunes International School Director Amjad Khan was delighted at the performance. He congratulated the topper Aditya Madan with 10 CGPA (95 percent) and Syed Ali Qadri and Abhilekh Dixit with 9.6 CGPA (91.2 percent) each.
Mohammed Saqlain of the school bagged the third position with 9.4 CGPA (89.3 percent). At the International Indian School-Dammam (IISD), 992 students took the exam. Of them, 90 scored A1 grade in all five subjects and scored 10 CGPA. One student remained during the exam and the remaining 992 were successful.
Thrity-nine students got 9.8 CGPA, another 35 students got 9.6, 63 students secured CGPA 9.4.
