Filipinos told to follow MERS guidelines


RIYADH: The Philippine Embassy issued on Saturday a warning to all Filipinos in the Kingdom to observe health guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health regarding MERS-CoV.
The warning was issued in the wake of a reported case of a Filipino national being infected with the virus in Riyadh.
“Filipino workers in the health care sector should strictly follow infection control protocols in their workplaces,” the embassy said.
It added that “despite the considerable decrease in MERS-CoV rate in the Kingdom in recent months, maintaining high vigilance and caution against all types of infectious diseases is necessary.”
On Saturday, it was reported that a 77-year-old Saudi man in Hofuf died due to the virus
