Dubai, April 22 (IANS/WAM) UAE has banned the import of live birds from South Africa.

 
 Environment and Water Minister Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad issued a ministerial decree banning the import of live birds and their products from South Africa, it was announced Thursday.
 
 A resolution in this regard was taken in accordance with the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), which confirmed the appearance of avian flu (H5N1) virus, officials said.
