UAE allows import of living sheep from Kazakhstan

Dubai, April 18 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates has lifted its ban on import of all kinds of living sheeps and goats and their products from Kazakhstan.

 
 UAE's Minister of Environment and Water, Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad issue a direction in this regard which has paved the way for the lifting of the ban.
 
 The resolution was taken in accordance with reports received from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) confirming that the Asian country was free of goat pox and other epidemic diseases.
 
 The resolution stipulates that all shipments should subject to veterinary legislations and quarantine and animal welfare law.
 
 The UAE had banned the import of various types of sheep and goats and their products from Kazakhstan because of the appearance of chicken pox disease among the animals, based on information received from the World Organization for Animal Health in Dec. 2009.
