The status of the internet: which are all the world’s fasted cities?

Day by Day the internet is getting wider and wider this is due to the rising number of internet subscribers and the internet connecting devices as per an Akamai report which is to release the internet status of the 2011 Q1 statements. The Akamai research reveals that the steady growth in bandwidth and connection speed escorts the expansion of the internet

Following are some of the salient points from the report

A speed of over 5mbps is present in almost sixty percent of the South Korean broad band connections
A highest average connection speed at 14.4 mbps was achieved by South Korea, an average connection of 9.2 Mbps for Hongkong. The third slot with 8.1 Mbps occupied by Japan.

In the first quarter an average connection speed by 10% was seen by more than 40 countries/regions. This is indeed a healthy sign for an overall broadband adoption. It is even healthier news for the startups building applications that consume more bandwidth.

In the state of Delaware almost 72% of the broadband connections were quicker than 5Mbps . The maximum average connection speed of 7.5 Mbps is found at Delaware. There was 5.2 percent increase in unique IPV4 addresses numbers linking to the global network of Akama during the first three month of 2011


The world’s fastest cites are

It has been revealed by the Akamai data
A 7.5 Mbps average connection is found in Delaware which is followed with 6.8 Mbps for Rhode Island and with 6.0Mbps for Wisconsin.

The three falsest cites Riverside, San José, Staten Island, Calif and Newyork with 7.8Mbps average speed.
Due to the presence of Com fast and Verizon’s FiOs five out of the best ten broad band cities are from the east coast.
