Royal Botanical Gardens, Melbourne

The Melbourne Royal Botanical Gardens is globally acclaimed botanical garden situated in the hub of Melbourne city on Yarra river’s southern banks. The landscaped garden is spread on an area of 38 hectares. It houses nearly 10,000 species of non-native & naïve vegetations.


Some of the theme areas you can find the Arid Garden, Herb Garden, Bulbs, Rose Garden and Fern Gully. You can also find a variety of non naïve tough wearing lawns in different sizes such as the Hopetown Lawn , Huntingford Lawn, Tennyson Lawn, Princes Lawn, Northern Lawn, Western Lawn, Central Lawn, Oak Lawn, Australian Lawn, Southern Lawn and Eastern Lawn.


The garden is an ideal place to spend the afternoon. You will find the place a wonderful oasis in the hustle bustle Melbourne urban life. There is also a beautiful lake where you can spend your time reading your favorite novel.
There is also a children's garden meant for your little ones.


Some of the beautiful plants you can find are Cereus peruvianus, Myrtillocactus geometrizans, Orbea variegate, etc.

Opening hours

The garden is opened from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and from 9.30am to 5 pm on weekends.
