London, April 28 (IANS) An Indian-origin woman police officer in London has resigned  after she took over 800 days off, claiming she became unwell due to constant racial abuse from her colleagues.

 
 Hinah Parekh, 43, claimed that racial abuse from fellow police officers made her unwell. She said she was also suffering from depression and stress.
 
 This made her take 848 days off in five years, the Daily Mail reported.
 
 Parekh managed an average of only five shifts a month at her job at the Belgravia police station in Central London.
 
 She, however, did not report her case to an employment tribunal, leading senior officers to launch disciplinary proceedings against her constant absence from duty.
 
 Officials found Parekh had worked only 327 days out of 1,175 since 2006.
 
 Parekh resigned before she could be sacked.
 
 A Metropolitan Police spokesman Thursday confirmed that Parekh left the police after she learned she faced disciplinary proceedings for unsatisfactory attendance.
 
 Two years ago, Parekh reportedly wept at a tribunal claim of another Asian officer who also claimed he was subjected to racial abuse at the police station.
 
 "I had experienced bullying from colleagues involving calling me names, ignoring me, pushing me to go drinking, publicly humiliating me and being completely insensitive to my religious and cultural beliefs and my obligation as a single parent," she had said.
 
 She said her supervisor "said people from my culture do get bullied and this was not the kind of role they would stay in".
 
 The Metropolitan Police has denied the allegations of racism and bullying.
