Pakistani actor Moin Akhtar dies aged 61

Islamabad, April 22 (IANS) Prominent Pakistani television, stage and film actor Moin Akhtar, best known to audiences in the subcontinent for his role in comedy play "Bakra Qiston Pe", died in Karachi Friday.

 
 Akhtar, 61, was undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for heart disease, Geo TV reported.
 
 A versatile performer from Karachi, Akhtar made his TV debut Sep 6, 1966 in a show on state-run Pakistan TV (PTV) on the first defence day of Pakistan. Since then, he had performed numerous roles in TV shows.
 
 Akhtar was one of the most sought after actors in the Pakistani entertainment industry. He was fluent in several languages, including English, Bengali, Sindhi, Punjabi, Pushto, Gujarati and others.
 
 He also had a huge fan following in India due to "Bakra Qiston Pe" opposite Pakistani comedian Umar Sharif in which they impersonated several sub-continental actors like Dilip Kumar, Shashi Kapoor and Raj Kumar.
