Pakistan, Saudi Arabia to enhance cooperation

Islamabad, Aug 10 (IANS) Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to enhance cooperation and boost ties, it was reported here.


Bilateral relations, cooperation and the regional situation were reviewed during a meeting between Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in Jeddah.

The leaders agreed to work closely to promote the cause of global peace and promote harmony and tolerance among different religions, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

A broad consensus was reached on enhancing Pakistan-Saudi Arabia partnership.

“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are one country; they are more than friends and more than brothers,” King Abdullah was quoted as saying.

Gilani informed King Abdullah about Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace, reconciliation in Afghanistan and its efforts to improve relations with India.

King Abdullah said it was important that there are good relations between the neighbouring countries.

He also informed Gilani about a conversation he had with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
