NSS Kuwait celebrated 135th Mannam Jayanthi

NSS –KUWAIT celebrated 135th Mannam Jayanthi at Cambiridge English School on 20th January 2012 with a colourful full day event.

The programme was inaugurated by H.E Sri. Sathish C Metha , The Honorable Ambassador of India by lighting the traditional lamp.

The Public meeting presided by NSS Kuwait President Mr. Baiju Pillai was started at 10.30 am. In the Inaugural address His Excellency has praised the efforts taken by the cultural associations like NSS in bringing out the traditional values among its members.

The Nair Service Society Director Board Member and Trivandrum Taluk Union President Mr. Sangeeth Kumar was the official representation from the NSS Head Office at Changanacherry and the Chief Guest of the function. In his address, he described the painstaking efforts made by Acharyan Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan during the initial days of formation of the society and his revolutionary ideas and activities that has influenced the social, cultural and educational spheres of the state of Kerala.

Mr. Thomas Chandy MLA, Mr. Abdul Fattah Thayyil, President of KKMA and Mr. K.P.Balakrishnan made the felicitation addresses. Mr. Suresh Nair, NSS-Kuwait General Secretary made the welcome speech and Mr. Gopakumar, Treasurer gave the Vote of thanks.

The dance programme by more than 135 artists from twelve dance schools have performed variety of dance forms from Traditional Bharatha Natyam, Kutchipudi to cinematic and fusion.

The much awaited Classical Music concert by famous musician Sri Kanhangad Ramachandran started at 4.30 pm. The classical and semi classical songs accompanied by Mr. Perunna Hari on Mridangam , Sri Balamurali on Violin, Kottayam Unnikrisnan on Ghatam elevated the crowd to a different world of musical realization. The tradition feast was served to all participants.

The programme concluded at 7pm after a lucky draw and prizes were distributed by Mrs. Manjula Sangeethkumar.
