Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is an inactive valcano. It is Africa’s utmost peak and has 3 volcanic cones Mawenzi, Kibo, and Shira. Uhuru Peak is the uppermost summit on the crater rim of Kibo.


Trekking is one of the main tourism activities conducted in Mt Kilimanjaro. Nearly there are six formal routes to climb to Mt. Kilimanjaro; one can scale the peak, through Rongai, Marangu, Shira, Lemosho, Machame.and Umbwe route.


In Mt Kilimanjaro, some peculiar animals were spotted. Ten years ago, a dog was seen at the Baranco camp located at 3,960 MSL, another rust colored dog was seen at the Uhuru peak, where temperature varies from 4 to 15 degree Celsius. It still remains a mystery, as to how the dogs survived those freezing temperature and got its food.


Mt.Kilimanjaro national park

The Mt.Kilimanjaro national park is situated 200 miles to equator’s south close to the Tanzanian town of Moshi. In 1987, UNESCO declared the national park as a world heritage site.


Some to the animals you can see in the park are elephants, giraffes, water buffalo, water hog, blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, dik dik, bush buck and a variety of birds.
