Beijing, Sep 29 (IANS) A 38-year-old man in China brutally killed his girlfriend by stabbing her all over while having a drink at a restaurant. He did not stop attacking her till he injured his hands.


The suspect, surnamed Tang, allegedly stabbed 37-year-old Chen Haihua over 30 times while drinking at a restaurant at People's Square Aug 15. Chen, who suffered repeated stabs on the neck, chest, belly and back, was pronounced dead after she was rushed to the nearby Changzheng hospital, the Shanghai Daily reported.

Tang was divorced and lived with his son in a village in Anhui province while Chen, from Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, worked for a tourism company in Shanghai, said prosecutors.

The two came to know each other through a website and started a relationship. On Aug 7 this year, Chen sent Tang a text message, saying that she had a new boyfriend in her life and wanted to break up with him.

To save the relationship, Tang took a train from his home to Shanghai Aug 14. But Chen insisted on breaking up and told Tang that she was in fact married.

Tang became enraged and stabbed her.
