IMF struck by Cyber attack

A Cyber attack struck the International Monetary Fund Computer screens. This highlights the growing reaction of network break-ins at the high profile institutions.

The IMF spokesman David Hawley said the fund is fully functional and investigation is going on the incident. He said he is not in a situation to explain in detail the extent of the cyber security incident. 

Repots form Bloomberg news said that the IMF computers were attacked by hackers who were believed to be linked to a foreign government that has resulted in the loss of credentials and emails.

The attack has taken place prior to the May 14 of Dominique Strauss Kahn, the former IMF chief on charges of sex assault. A suspect government was not identified. The Cyber security experts said that it is very tedious to trace down the sophisticated break-in to its ultimate resource.

A world bank official said that out of caution it has slashed the network connection with the IMF.The world bank is IMF’s sister organization based in Washington.

Cyber attacks are increasing globally. Leon Panetta, the CIA director said TO THE US Congress that US face the real probability of a crippling cyber attack.  He said that the cyber attack is ne next Pearl harbor that US confronts that would cripple the security systems, power systems, grid systems, financial and government systems.
