Even though the reservoir was constructed with the sole intention of fulfilling the the capital city’s water needs, the dam also act as a place of entertainment. The dam is constructed across the Notwane River.

Yacht Club:

The Yacht club was formed in the year 1960, on the eastern part of the dam. It is an excellent place where the tourists and the yachtmen can take pale in enjoying the open-air bar, restaurant and the swimming pool.

The club house is located on the island Koppie’s zenith offering panoramic view of reminiscing the Okavango delta. The club house is an excellent place to organize corporate seminar and is also the venue for social activities like Gaborone Iron Man Challenge and the regionally renowned Subaru Kalchal Boutique Mountain Bike Race.

Apart from this the some portions of the popular television soap ‘The No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency’ were shot at the club hours.

The dam is a hot favorite among the windsurfers, birders, anglers .Swimming is prohibited because of the presence of crocodiles and chances of schistosomiasis contraction.

The lake shore is also home to a number of entertainment activities. You can find on the southern shorses, the Kalahari fishing club, and also a public facility known as Cityscapes providing a boat jetty, picnic sites and a kid’s playground.
