Face book’s Hacker cup challenge.

Do you think you have extraordinary programming skills? then Face book wants to prove your talent at its second yearly hacker cup challenge.


Declaring the second annual hacker cup challenge, the company said in a blog, hacking is the core thing built at Face book. It said whether it intends to produce a smarter search algorithm, or constructing a prototype for big items like Timeline on a Hackathon, or simply ripping their new headquarters’ walls, they are hacking constantly to discover new methods to resolve the difficulty.


Coders from any part of the world can take part in this competition.This contest of face book pits the contestants against one another in the programming challenges in five rounds. The initial round kick starts on 20 th January with a qualification round of 72 hour duration .A further three additional rounds online will slim down the field to a concluding 25 contestants, who will then be flown out to Melino Park headquarters’ of Face book for a concluding competition to held in the month of march.


The victor will take home a $5000 cash price. Some 12,000 contestants took part in the last year competition. A participant from Russia, Petr Mitrichev, who is a Google staff, bagged the top prize. It is interesting to note at this juncture that Petr Mitrichev sported his Google staff badge during the contest.


There is a hidden motive for the tech organizations to conduct these kinds of contests, it an excellent strategy to spot out the expert programmers, who are one of insufficient resource in the industry. The annual Code Jam contest is being organized by Google. Mitrichev won the 2006 competition.


On its recruiting page, Face book suspends coding puzzles with the motto, like to get a phone interview, solve the programming challenges. Face book boasts itself on the hacker culture. As a portion of its process on product development, the marathon staff hackathons are frequently held by the company.
