A court in Egypt has imposed ban on virginity tests carried on Female detainees.

The allegations on the virginity initially cropped up in the rally organized on March 9 at the Tahrir Square of Cairo, which later broke into violence, in which the protestors were attacked by plainclothes men and were later made to evacuate from the square with force by the army.

As claimed by the rights group Human Rights Watch, seven women were forced to take up the tests.

Fox New says that the veto arrived in a week, subsequent to the outrage by the public, over unruly scenes that occurred during the brutal crackdown on the protestors, in which the female activists were dragged by their hair, stamping them, and one of them stripped half naked in public road.

As per a report, panel comprising of three judges in tips ruling asserted said virgin test is an act of woman right’ violation and it is an violence against their self-respect.

The verdict also said in June, a ruling military council member confessed to the Amnesty International, in order to protect the Army against the probable rape accusation, the practice were conducted on the women detainees,, specifying that it was an administrative order and not a person’s decision.

The court decree further said that since just like the police force, the military is also operating, it is the armnd forces’ responsibility, to obey the law, while carrying out the duty and not infringe its provisions , while dealing with the people.

Samira Ibrahim, a 25 year old woman was the earliest one to criticize on the humiliating practice. Two cases were filed by Samira, in protest against the practice, on individual calling for the ban and another one blamed the officer of sexual harassment.
