Britain trains special teams to fight Taliban

London, July 11 (IANS) Specially selected commandos are being trained by British forces in Afghanistan to fight the Taliban, a media report said.

The six-member Tiger Teams are stationed across Afghanistan's Helmand province. They are given a three-month intensive training and are paid twice the salary of normal Afghan soldiers, The Sun reported.

"They move with precision, recognise where IEDs have been laid and are fearless. They have saved hundreds of lives already," an official said.

Training of the Tiger Teams began three years ago. Hundreds of commandos now work alongside US Marines in Afghanistan.

A 21-year-old soldier named Farhan said: "We have been trained by the world's best special forces to protect our country."
