Bangladesh opposition creating anti-India feelings: Minister

Dhaka, Aug 14 (IANS) The opposition in Bangladesh is creating an anti-India feeling among the masses ahead of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to the country, a minister has said.

Minister for Law Qamrul Islam said the opposition was running a "misinformation campaign" to whip up anti-India passion among the public, according to bdnews24.com.

He said opposition leaders like Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Goyeshwar Chandra Roy were spreading rumours that opposition leader and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia will be arrested before Manmohan Singh visits the country.

Manmohan Singh is scheduled to visit Bangladesh Sep 6-7.

Islam said the case against Zia was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission. "But the party is trying to generate anti-India feelings," he said.
