Alcatel-Lucent to move faster with 400G Optical

As the requirement of bandwidths persists to rise, so is the demand for technologies, which assists them for transmission. The innovative 400 gigabit per second PSE (Photonic service engine), was proclaimed by Alcatel-Lucent last week.

Initially the 400 PSG was accessible for the 1830 Photonic Switch Platform of Alcatel-Lucent. This platform is of DWDM optical networking type, and is of 400G wavelength. It assists in optimizing the prevailing 100G traffic flow.

The Director for Product Marketing Optics portfolio of Alcatel-Lucent said that for 3G functions, they will be able to stretch the reach from the present XR merchandise of 2000km capacity to 3000km capability. Only recently last December the extended reach 100GXR was declared.

The PSE of 400G is seen as a balancing technology to FP3 chips of 400 gigabits, which was announced for Alcatel-Lucent’s Ethernet portfolio in June 2011. The 400G FP3 network processor travels into the core routers of Alcatel-Lucent for Ethernet transfer.
