Al Qaeda kills six cops in Yemen
Sana'a, May 14 (IANS) At least six policemen were killed Saturday in an Al Qaeda attack in southern Yemen, Xinhua reported.
The attack targeted a security checkpoint in Radaa town of Al-Bayda province, an official said.
"Following the attack, the Al Qaeda militants seized the policemen's weapons and two security vehicles and fled," the official added.
Al Qaeda's Yemeni and Saudi units reportedly merged in 2009 to form a new group called Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), based in Yemen. The AQAP is led by Yemeni leader Nasser al-Wahayshi.
