A homeless girl gets invite to royal wedding

London, April 17 (IANS) A young girl, who shared homeless shelters with drug addicts while recovering from a serious stroke barely a year ago, is all set to join the Who's Who of the world invited to attend the upcoming royal wedding in less than two weeks.

Shozna, 20, will take her place alongside the royals, A-list celebrities and foreign dignitaries after receiving an invitation to the first 'people's royal wedding', Daily Mail reported Sunday.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have invited the former homeless teenager to Westminster Abbey after she was rescued from destitution by Princess Diana's homeless charity, Centrepoint.

Following his late mother's footsteps by becoming patron in 2005, William, 28, spent a freezing winter's night sleeping rough in support of their plight two years ago.

At a charity gala last summer William heard Shozna, narrate the galling story of how the bright, bubbly, 5'2" girl was made homeless after having major heart surgery and faced the prospect of life on the streets.

William was so moved that he broke royal protocol by giving her a hug. He has now chosen her for a golden ticket to the April 29 ceremony.

On getting the invite for the royal wedding, Shozna said: "I'm so very excited."

"I can't believe the Beckhams, Elton John and his husband, Prince Harry and all the little bridesmaids will be there.

"I want to say to Prince William: 'Congratulations. Thank you for inviting me and thank you for making people feel like they are part of the world instead of being alone'."
