Expert warns on rising rate of asthma cases in Kuwait
Consultant in respiratory diseases at the Rashid Center for Allergies, Dr Najeeb Abdullah Al-Ghanim, warned on the rising rate of asthma in the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a statement, Al-Ghanim stressed an estimated 15 percent of the Kuwaiti population, an equivalent of 450,000 citizens and residents suffer from asthma. He noted many of the asthma patients reside in southern part of the country, which is witnessed to high rate of smoke, dust and pollution.
Meanwhile, Al-Ghanim is of the view that inhaler is most effective treatment for the disease, because it clears the lungs immediately. Also, he assured other new methods of treatment are safe, and “pregnant women should not worry about their fetus being affected by medication”.

Al-Ghanim stressed need for patients to be sure their lungs are not working about 80 percent before deciding on going through surgery.

He went on to explain the first type of asthma is detected with patients having difficulty in breathing for unknown reasons, while the second type is caused by environment factors such as dust, smoke or other allergies.
