Students shine in Indian school exams


Obada Mohammed Anwar has achieved the highest marks in Bahrain in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE), overseen by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The New Millennium School-DPS Bahrain student scored 97pc in the annual exams in the Science stream.

Hundreds of students from five different schools in Bahrain appeared for the examination in March.

The Indian School

Vishnu Narayanan Nair from The Indian School-Bahrain came second in the kingdom with a score of 96.8pc in the Science stream followed by Arvind Sundaram, who got 96.6pc, and Ankitha (no surname) who scored 96.4pc.

Aswathi Mary Anian and Farheen Kadeeja Sheeref topped the Commerce stream scoring 94.6pc each, while Hazel Jane D Sa got 94.2pc and in third place was Jeena Joseph who scored 94pc.

In the Humanities stream Dilsha Hussain scored 89.4pc, Tejal Suvarna got 87.4pc and Jyotsana Mariam Jose came third with 83.4pc.

Four students scored 100 marks in chemistry and two in biotechnology.

The school achieved a pass rate of 95pc, with a total number of 574 students appearing for the examination this year.


Al Noor International School

Mohammed Akeef Musba was the top scorer with 94.2pc in the Commerce stream and Shilpa Charley scored 84.6pc in the Science stream.

Meghna Sulakshna Nair achieved 85pc in physical education.

Five students got 95pc in English. They were Mohammed Akeef Musba, Bushra Fatima Tanweer Ahmed, Mohammed Salman Musba, Meghna Sulakshna Nair and Jeffin Mathew Varghese.

The New Indian School

The 15th batch of Grade 12 pupils to sit the exam achieved a 99pc pass rate.

Out of 96 students who appeared for the annual examinations, 45 obtained distinctions.

Kiran Murali was the top performer in the Science stream with 95.2pc, Anagha Ravikumar got 93.6pc and Roshan Emmanuel Edwin got 91.4pc.

In the Commerce stream Munira Taher Saifuddin scored 95.8pc, Rini Johny came second with 91.8pc and Aaron Jacob got 89.2pc.

Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School

Biology student Farhan Mohammed Faiz Mohammed scored 88pc, while Akshay Mukundan topped the Computer Science stream with 96pc.


Meanwhile, Aysha Hamid Umer Khan scored 95pc in the Economics stream and 99pc in the Informatics Practices stream.

Asha Akhter got 75pc in Accountancy and five students topped Business Studies with 95pc.

They were Salman Koyes, Aysha Hamid Umer Khan, Afra Gulam and Hishana Cheruvalath.

New Millennium School DPS Bahrain

Obada who topped the Science stream with 97pc was followed by Sanchayita Sengupta with 96.6pc and Harshun Shukl with 96pc.

In the Humanities stream, Rukmini Chatterjee came top with 92pc, while Saloni Kaul scored 95.6pc in the Commerce stream.

Of the 72 students who appeared for the examination, 28 scored above 90pc and 63 students excelled with distinction.
