Expatriates to lose Visas, if they stay away from Oman for more than six months.

The Expatriate worker including Indian workers in Oman will lose their visas, if they continuously stay away from Oman for more than six months in a year without any valid and adequate reason s per the new regulations laid down by the Government.

Likewise the visas of expatriates ail slo be cancelled if they are found to stay away from Oman for more than 18 months in a period of 3 years. However these conditions are not applicable to the expatriate’s family member provided they should have a valid visa.

A population of 550,000 Indians is staying in Oman and they constitute the biggest expatriate community. These people come various parts of the country and they comprise of technicians, trained workers, and specialized persons like engineers, doctors, finance experts, bankers, managers, etc,

A directorate general official said that a boss cannot insist on the cancellation of the visas of his staff unless if he stays way from Oman for more than six months period.
